Homemade Lemonade

If you have never had homemade lemonade you might be pleasantly surprised at just how good it is and how it tastes like nothing you could possibly make from a powder or buy in a bottle. It is extremely refreshing and looks beautiful in a glass pitcher with a few slices of fresh lemon.

Ingredients

  • 2c/400g white sugar
  • 2 quarts/2 liters of water
  • 16oz/480ml cup fresh squeezed lemon juice (approx. 12 large lemons)
  • Ice cubes & fresh lemon slices to serve (optional)

Instructions

  1. Whisk the sugar and 16oz/480ml of the water in a saucepan over high heat until the sugar is dissolved, remove from the heat and leave to cool completely.
  2. When the sugar water is cool, combine it with the lemon juice and the rest of the water in a large pitcher and stir.
  3. Refrigerate for several hours until cold and/or serve over ice.
  4. Garnish with lemon slices, if you like.

Makes approximately 12 servings
