January 2017

So, how was your 2016? Of course, everyone lost some big icons of the entertainment world, evil people did evil things, and we all endured a presidential campaign that hopefully never happens again. In my personal life, I lost my grandmother, and that was enough to make this year one of the crappiest of all time. So, arrivederci 2016 and I hope the door hit you in the ass on the way out!

Having said that, with the past year gone I admit, I have mixed feelings about 2017. It might end the spree of dying icons, it also might not. Plus, after such a hideous election year and its final results, I feel fearful of what is to come. In fact, to many aspects of that worry me to the point of occasionally staring off into space and wondering if I should have stayed overseas… but of course, Brexit.

Anyway… as for the future of this blog, only good things!

I have decided for this year I will be keeping the 1st of the month post, but I will make an effort to either photograph, paint or draw my own featured picture for it. In addition to that, I’ll be making 7 posts per month (so 8 in total) with a new type of post (more about that below). Posts will now be made on the 1st, 4th, 8th, 12th, 16th, 20th, and 24th, except for special occasion posts which will be on whatever random day it falls on.

Even though I swore years ago to not do New Year Resolutions, I have always wanted to learn the techniques of drawing and so this year I’m going to put a special effort into that (Yup, that picture is something I made. SEE! I really need to learn stuff about drawing.). I’m going to document my journey via Instagram and Deviant Art. You can follow my progress on either or both of those things. I’ll include a little update about it on my 1st of the month posts with links to new stuff. Also, In case you didn’t notice I’ve added a Deviant Art link to my social garden (last flower on the right).

I’ve also decided to start doing the King Arthur Flour Monthly #bakealong. Basically, they choose a recipe each month and the participants make it and share photos. I will be posting my photo results to Instagram ASAP after baking it. Then, I will also make a blog post about it in more detail. I’m really looking forward to it!

Last, but certainly not least, since this year’s blogiversary/birthday is my 5-Year/50-Year I’m going to be giving away a prize in a random drawing. The prize will be announced in March on the 20th. This is also when entries start being accepted. It ends on my blogiversary/birthday in April on the 20th!

So, check back frequently and please feel free to comment and ask questions on my posts! I can see the people visit but they never say anything. I’m hoping to turn that around this year and get more feedback.

Happy New Year Everyone!
