Craft | Police Box Bird Feeder

Alex & her police box bird feeder

Are you a Whovian? Have you been watching for 50 years or just since the revival? Which Doctor is the one for you? I’ve only been watching since 2005 and I liked Christopher Eccleston, but lets face it, he’s no David Tennant!

So anyway…

Back in 2010 just before Matt Smith took over as Doctor Who, he appeared on a British TV show called Blue Peter. The show has been around for a long time and is geared towards kids. One of the things they do on the show is crafts. On the particular I’m referring to, they made this cook tardis bird feeder.

Below is a video of the show, which is mostly interview and a bit of slap together how to.

Unfortunately, the printouts and instructions they mention are long gone, but I’ve recreated them and you are welcome to download the PDF file HERE. It’s not perfect, but my granddaughter and I managed with them. Bear in mind that they are not the originals, I’ve never had the original instructions or material list so I had to guess at it, and I did alter it a bit to make it easier.

In the above picture, Alex is holding the one she made and below is the one I made.

Though my granddaughter is only 6, I do not recommend this craft project for young kids unless there is an adult to do pretty much all the work. I’d say a bare minimum of 12-years-old to attempt this solo and even then with the spray paint and box cutter (I found the box cutter was way more efficient then scissors!) I’d still strongly advice an adult help with a good proportion of the project.
