Strawberry Lemonade

Strawberry Lemonade 01

The flavor of this strawberry lemonade is ridiculously good, I mean “oh wow” good. It’s unlike anything you can buy that is made commercially. So fresh and refreshing, if you make it you’ll find it pretty difficult to go back to the store-bought stuff! Hey, at least it’s a quick easy recipe and just 4 fairly inexpensive ingredients, right?

Ingredients

  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 5 cups of filtered water, divided
  • 12 ounces of strawberries, washed and leafs removed
  • 1 cup/8 fl oz fresh lemon juice (6 to 8 small lemons)
  • lemon slices & ice to serve (optional)

Instructions

  1. Whisk together 1 cup of the water and all of the sugar in a 4-cup microwavable jug.
  2. Heat in the microwave on full power for 2 minutes, or until the water is hot but not boiling. Whisk until all the sugar is dissolved.
  3. Place all of the prepared strawberries and 1 cup of the water in a blender and blend until smooth. Strain through a fine mesh strainer into the jug with the sugar water.
  4. Stir the lemon juice, strained strawberry sugar water and the remaining 3-cups of water in a large pitcher.
  5. Cover and refrigerate until cold.
  6. Stir and serve over ice, garnish with lemon slices.

Makes About 8 Servings (8 fluid ounces each)

Notes

  • I like to double strain the strawberries, but it’s not necessary.
  • You could use bottled lemon juice, but eww, gross.
  • If the lemonade is sitting in the fridge for a while you’ll probably want to stir it before pouring a glass.
