Sunbelt Bakery is hands down my favorite maker of store-bought granola bars. I could seriously eat a box of them a day!
Admittedly I’ve not tried every variety on offer but of the ones I have tried the Oats & Honey are a firm favorite. It can be extremely difficult to find plain chewy granola bars. For some reason companies just can’t help but put raisins, chocolate chips, or peanut butter into the chewy versions of their product.
Sunbelt Bakery brand “plain” chewy granola bars (Oats & Honey) are a lot like a British flapjack, in fact, my British husband swears that’s what they actually are. They certainly have that kind of flavor along with a similar texture but ingredient wise it’s obvious that they are not flapjacks. IMO with things like crispy rice cereal and coconut they are bordering on being a candy bar. Especially if you get the Fudge Dipped Coconut ones!
At roughly $2 a box for 10 x bars (Winco & Walmart in Northern California) they are great value for money when compared to other chewy granola bars, and candy bars for that matter.
I’m not saying they are a healthy snack or even a better alternative to junk food… I’m just saying I think they are delicious, they are my favorite of the chewy granola bars available and they are not expensive.
Sunbelt Bakery brand also makes cereal bars and granola cereal. I’ve only had the Strawberry cereal bars & the plain granola cereal. I highly recommend both!
