These fun little candies are inexpensive and easy to put together, plus they look impressive and make a nice gift. You could substitute another type of sandwich cookie or even gingerbread cookies if you are not a fan of Oreos… if you’re not a fan of Oreos, maybe you don’t deserve cookie truffles? Don’t freak out, I said maybe!
Ingredients
- 48 oreo cookies, fillings removed (96 halves) – 3 cups of fine crumbs
- 1/2 butter, melted
- 1/2 cup cream (half & half)
- 12 ounces vanilla candy melts
- Paper mini muffin liners (optional)
Instructions
- Place the cookie halves in a food processor and pulse them on high until you have fine crumbs.
- Add the melted butter and cream to the food processor, and pulse until the mixture comes together.
- Tip all the cookie crumbs into a mixing bowl, cover and chill in the fridge for 15 minutes.
- Divide into generous 1 teaspoon portion, and roll each portion into a ball.
- Place all the cookie balls on a tray, cover lightly with plastic wrap. Refrigerate them for 30 minutes.
- Meanwhile, prepare two baking sheets by lining them with parchment paper or silicone mats.
- A few minutes before the cookie balls are done chilling, melt the candy melts in the microwave.
- When the cookie balls are chilled, dip each completely in the melted mixture and let the excess drip off.
- Place each coated cookie ball on the prepared baking sheet.
- Repeat with all the cookie balls, reheating candy melts as needed.
- Carefully remove each truffle (coated cookie ball = truffle) from the tray and place in a paper liner.
- Store the truffles in a covered container in the fridge for up to 1 week.
- Good cold, or at room temperature (set out some truffles 20 minutes before serving).

Notes
- One family size package of Oreos is about 48 cookies
- What to do with the middles of the Oreos? I portioned and rolled it into the same size as the truffles and then dipped them in melted bittersweet dark chocolate. I ended up with 14 of the Oreo truffle centers.
- You could make this recipe with other types of cookies, as long as they are hard and dry like Oreos.
