This is such a simple and convenient way to make this. Very tasty too! I just love my air fryer, and I’m finding new things to make in it all the time. This was an experiment to start out but the results were fantastic so I thought I would share.
Ingredients
- 4 Slices of Thick Bread, “day old” or dried out a bit (see notes)
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp melted butter or light tasting oil
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional/see notes)
- Pinch of salt
- A little oil for cooking
- Your favorite toppings, such as butter, syrup or fresh fruit
Instructions
- Prepare the baking tray or rack that came with your air fryer by lining it with non-stick foil and lightly oil it.
- Whisk together the milk, eggs, butter, vanilla, and salt. Pour into a shallow bowl. Drop a piece of the bread into the egg mixture and immediately turn it over and take it out. Place it on the prepared pan and repeat with the rest of the bread slices.
- Air fry at 375f for 10 minutes, flipping halfway. The toasts should be golden brown and little crisp.
- Serve with your favorite toppings.
Makes 2 Servings, easily doubled
Notes
- It helps if the bread is dry, so either leave it out overnight in the oven or put it in the oven on the lowest setting for 10 minutes (don’t brown it!) and let them cool to room temperature.
- Savory French Toast is good with a fried egg on it, and some fresh ground black pepper. If you want to try it savory, leave out the vanilla extract.
- French bread also works for this recipe.
