My New Kitchenaid & Meatgrinder/Sausage Accessory

I have wanted a Kitchenaid for about 30 or so years. It’s just never been the right time or I didn’t have the money, or space, or something. Always something. Having not settled for anything less than what I wanted, I finally have a Kitchenaid!

Before ever having mixed a single thing with it I ground 10 pounds of meat and made various ground meat things such as patties and sausages. It was fun, I enjoyed it more than anyone really should enjoy stuffing half frozen chunks of meat into grinder!

I started with the beef. I used chuck roast, sirloin steaks, and flat iron steaks. I was so thrilled that the beef I ground looked like stuff you get from the store. I’m not sure what I thought it was going to look like. Out of that, I made 7 burger patties, 2 meatloaves, and a pound left over for a future meal. We had the burgers the next day, they were fantastic!

After the beef I ground some mixes of pork tenderloin and chicken thighs, chicken breast and chicken thighs, as well as turkey breast and chicken thighs. Then I mixed in spices to create some breakfast sausages, chorizo, Cumberland, sage & onion, and taco meat (from the turkey mix).

This was just round one! Yes, mistakes were made. On the whole, it was a success though and I will be doing it again very soon. Look for future posts with recipes!
