My Patio Garden – Update

patioleft

Most everything in my patio garden is doing great, despite the crazy weather.

My little sweet potato really took off! I finally had to plant him into a pot, but you can still see his little grinning face just above the dirt. My granddaughter’s didn’t do so well. In fact, I’m on my 5th potato trying to get one to sprout for her. Her theory is that she didn’t write a face on any of them, so this time she did. We’ll see how it goes!

My geranium is doing so well this year, lots of blooms and it’s 3 times the size it got to last year. Geraniums always remind me of my grandmother, she had loads of them on her property when I was growing up. Chance’s tree is also making a huge comeback after being “adopted” by Chance. By adopted, I mean he ate its leaves and peed on it. It started to die so I put it outside and though it took about a year and a mild winter, it looks almost as good as when we got it. Change still looks at it out the window longingly.

I had just watered when I took these pictures. That’s why the ground is a little darker in the corner.

My herbs, tomato plant, and chili pepper plant are doing so well. It’s funny that they survived the winter and are thriving this year. I’ve eaten all the tomatoes off this plant this year, and they were so good.! Next year I should definitely grow more food!

I have forgotten what this plant is, but it’s really thriving where I have it this year. I thought it had died, but it’s 10 times the size it was, and blooming like crazy. I love its fuzzy leaves and pink flowers.

One more update to come for this year, then I’ll be “wintering” my garden till the spring.
