I think I like the last 3 months of the year the best, and October kicks it all off. Cooler weather, beautiful fall leaves, and apples! I know that October has been pumpkin spiced for the last decade, but lovely sweet crisp apples are everywhere this month.
Remember caramel apples at Halloween? I used to eat the caramel off and toss the apple. I’d like to say as a grown up that I’d eat the apple, but I probably wouldn’t. As a kid, I didn’t like the combo of the generally tart apple and the overly sweet caramel. These days, I like that combo, I just don’t want to work that hard for it. I prefer to just slice up an apple and dip it in something. Maybe caramel, maybe cashew butter, maybe nothing.
