August 2018

After my huge hiatus, I finally got back on the blog horse. Why was I gone so long? My health, loved one’s health, work, family, having other priorities. You know what I mean? Basically, life and the usual reasons that prevent someone from taking the time to do stuff (and things).

Now that I am back and knowing I would start posting again I took the time to give the site a little update, change the style to better reflect what I want it to be now. It’s changed a little here and there over the years, but not like this. This has to be a permanent change in my life and rather than put up a facade, I’d rather have the site be a reflection of me as I go, as well as how as things are presently.

So, how are things presently? Well…

Much like everyone else, I’m getting old, but I’m also getting fat and unhealthy. The thing of it is, I don’t want to be any of those things but I can control a few of them to some extent and that is my THE plan. Lose weight, be more physically active, exercise, and generally be healthier while I grow old. It’s a good plan, isn’t it? But, I couldn’t bear the idea of just going on some diet that I would eventually give up on. Or some ridiculous painful exercise routine I would hate and give up on or put off doing because I hate it. Did I tell you I would hate it?

So nope, I will not be doing those things! I will be changing my lifestyle. Yeah I know, that’s a stupid trendy phrase that makes you want to eat something colorful so your vomit will reflect just how much you are sick and disgusted with it, but it’s what I will be doing.

I will still eat good food but make healthy choices and some compromises. You know, turkey tacos instead of beef. Homemade froyo instead of ice cream. Walking instead of sitting (I got a treadmill) while I do something like talk on the phone or watch a TV show I enjoy. Not make a dessert for every night, but still eat desserts. These are compromises I can live with and maintain for (hopefully) the rest of my life.

I really am optimistic, and I am off to a good start. I’ve lost 12 pounds, I feel better, I sleep better, I’m still enjoying my food, and I feel happy. What more can I ask for than that?

So how does that affect this site, my site, my site of cake and other calorific non-diety foods? Well, like I mentioned above, I want it to reflect me as I am. With that in mind, you can look forward to nice recipes, fun crafts, and capricious blatherings. Yup, pretty much as it’s always been but with less sugar, fat, and carbs.
